The Budget Explosion

The Budget Explosion

The Budget Explosion
1)The cost of producing films increased during the period between 1975 until
the digital revolution over the last two decades.
2) By 2007, the cost of producing the average studio film had risen to $71 million,
with prints and advertising costing an average of $36 million.
3)This of course has come down dramatically now the film projection has been replaced by
    DCPs, or digital cinema packages.
4)There is no longer an extreme cost associated with reproducing film prints for exhibition.

Studios often sell the subsidiary rights to a film before it is shot.
1)The subsidiary rights are licenses to distribute the film theatrically in other countries,
to show it on cable, to broadcast it on network TV, to reproduce and sell it on DVD and
Blu-ray, and now to stream it on the internet.
2)Subsidiary rights also involve merchandising or selling the characters or likeness of a film
to be produced on trademarked items like video games.
3)Another commercial practice the studios use to generate revenue is product placement.
Product placement amounts to selling advertising space within the movie.
4)This can mean prominently displaying a Coke bottle in the background of a shot or having
    a character drink Budweiser.

WatchMojo.com compiled a humorous countdown of the Top 10 Most Shameless Product Placements back in 2014.

I am confident more shameless placements have occurred since then:
